University’s Student Alumni Association hosts event to celebrate 100 days until graduation1/23/2018 University of Georgia seniors are just 100 days away from being able to walk under the Arch, and to celebrate, the UGA Student Alumni Association has planned an event called 100 Days ‘Til Graduation, where seniors can take care of all things surrounding graduation. Beginning today in Memorial Hall, seniors can go pick up their caps and gowns, nibble on some snacks and check out the resources available to students graduating in May. The celebration will continue through Wednesday, Jan. 24, as reported in The Red & Black. Hilary Hilgers, alumni student engagement coordinator and an adviser for the student alumni council, said the UGA Student Alumni Association hosts this event each year to give seniors a chance to take care of all their pre-graduation responsibilities. “Seniors will be able to get items such as cap and gowns, have their graduation photos taken, learn more about their Alumni Chapter based on where they move to after graduation, interact with their Schools and Colleges, purchase a class Ring and celebrate their last semester at UGA,” said Hilgers in an email. Seniors can have a professional portrait taken, try on UGA rings and donate to Class of 2018 Senior Signature Campaign to guarantee that their name will be on the class of 2018 Senior Signature plaque in the Tate Student Center. Students who place an order for a ring during this event will also be invited to attend the official UGA Ring Ceremony on April 14. Commencement invitations and diploma frames will also be available for purchase during these events. This annual celebration has been going on for at least a decade, Hilgers said. Free food, music, games and prizes are offered to seniors to ring in their last 100 days before graduating. The SAC has had the help of several students with planning the two-day senior celebration. “They have all put so much of their time into planning and execution of this event – it has been so fun working with them and watching them grow as leaders through the SAC organization,” said Hilgers in an email.
